More About the Surgeons at Northwestern Plastic Surgery

Gregory Dumanian, MD, earned his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Harvard College and his medical degree with honors from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed a five-year general surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, and three years of plastic surgery training at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Dumanian also completed a hand surgery fellowship at the Curtis Hand Center in Baltimore. He currently serves as a professor and chief of the division of plastic surgery at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Dr. Dumanian has earned international acclaim for his work on the bionic arm procedure.


John Kim, MD, graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and received both his master's and medical degrees from Stanford University. He holds several patents on medical devices and is known for his innovations in breast cancer reconstruction. In addition to serving on the editorial board of the Annals of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Kim has given over 100 lectures and Grand Rounds presentations on new plastic surgery techniques, and has published over 50 articles and chapters in plastic surgery literature. He is the clinical director of the plastic surgery division of the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.


Robert D. Galiano, MD, received his undergraduate degree from Washington University and his medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. He completed plastic surgery training at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Galiano has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters and has been honored with multiple awards for his research. He also edited the best-selling medical textbook Current Therapy in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Galiano is also a professor at Northwestern.


Mohammed Alghoul, MD, completed residency training in general surgery and plastic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He followed up that training with breast reconstruction and microsurgery fellowships at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. Alghoul also completed an aesthetic and oculoplastic fellowship in Atlanta. He has authored several peer-reviewed articles published in plastic surgery journals. He specializes in cosmetic surgery of the eyelid, as well as breast reconstruction. He currently teaches at Northwestern.
